In 6810, Archikeleustes Danielle Quabela of the Imperial Navy was assigned to evaluate a new prototype fighter before its approval for limited combat deployment. Quabela, however, was secretly in league with agents of the traitorous Renegade Legion. Violating the trust of both Caesar and the Senate, she fled with the prototype to rendezvous with a Renegade spy ship that was hovering in the system. Evading the righteous wrath of the TOG escorting fighters, she and her ill-gotten booty fled to Commonwealth space. Archikeleustes Danielle Quabela was sentenced in absentia to death, and under the legal precedent of Vebero Puer [sic],[1] her immediate family was put to death.
Moreover, the Lictor was able to prove that a conspiracy existed between the prototype‘s manufacturer, Quabela, and the Commonwealth. As a result of this exposure, all of the manufacturing facilities were completely razed and the TOG Procurement Board canceled all production contracts for the craft.
The so-called Peacekeeper is a copy of that stolen prototype. Still in use with many traitorous Renegade Legion units, the Peacekeeper is a symbol of the deserters‘ inability to best the TOG technologically or morally.

As an aspect of the TOG Patria Potestas law, a female soldier becomes "a daughter of the State", so the State takes the place of the Pater Familia and "cleanses the family of its violent taint" by eliminating the immediate family of the guilty; i.e. husband and children. Under the precedent, the parents of the guilty party must be tried separately (unless they are State-owned slaves or the mother is unmarried or widowed, in which case they may be executed as well.
It should be noted that this is one rare instance in which the Imperial Government can legally perform such an act; though Overlords and the Lictor sometimes execute entire families, it is generally done by decree and away from public scrutiny.
