Design Philosophy and Operational Role[]

The H-6 Harrasser is considered one of the best medium ground vehicles in the Commonwealth military, due to its flexible weapons load and ability to carry a squad of infantry.

One of the few ground vehicles considered by commanders and troops to be an asset instead of a liability, the HarrasserĀ“s sleek, long lines hide some of its strengths. Its stated purpose is to deliver a squad of bounce infantry to the battle area, and provide them with a mobile firing defense. The weapons systems are designed to cover all possible engagement ranges, and are intended to exploit the accompanying LegionnairesĀ“ painting ability to its fullest.

The weapons mounts were an attempt to conceal much of the HarrasserĀ“s firepower when the tank was first introduced. The SMLMmissiles are retractable and fold down into recesses that appear to be crew hatches. The original turret design had a cowling for the laser barrel that resembled that of a 100mm Gauss cannon. Since TOG units and battle computers are by now familiar with the tank, the cowling is often omitted for ease of maintenance. New recruits are still confused by the tankĀ“s squat profile and often mistake it for a heavier vehicle than it actually is.

The unique double Naram-produced BĀ“Thala-450 engine is fairly effective and improves combat survivability (it mounts two engines side-by-side). It increases the difficulty of maintenance, though, since to date the Harrasser is the only tank in the CAF arsenal that uses it. The current TOG offensive makes it difficult to get spare parts to the regiments occupied on the front lines.

Variants[]

H-8 TĀ“Arla / H-8 Harrasser II[]

The H-8 variant of the Harrasser is used by KessRith armour units within the CAF. Called the T' arla by its crews, the H-8 disposes of the two smaller hull-mounted lasers in favour of heavier armour on the sides and turret. The "glass butt" (the minimally armoured rear facing) remains, but this is rarely an issue to the KessRith tankers who maintain that "the enemy is never going to see our backs anyway".

(Note: The TĀ“ArlaĀ“s stats in the infobox on the right are extrapolated from the text in the Centurion Vehicle Briefing, p.28. Since the reference text was somewhat vague about the amount and placement of the vehicleĀ“s extra armour, the stats given are only a guess and in no way represent canon.)
