Legatus Cariolanus Camus is an ambitious senior TOG ground / grav forces officer in the occupation army of the planet Caralis.
His career started in a Garrison Legion, where his unit was instrumental in quelling a civilian uprising with military force. His wife was involved in the insurrection, and only the Planetary GovernorĀ“s influence saved him from being relieved of duty. When she was deported to the slave mines, Camus did not look back. He put his energy into his career, rising quickly through the ranks.
In the novel Frost Death by Peter L. Rice, Camus is sent with a reinforced Cohort of grav tanks to CaralisĀ“ Southern polar area to intercept and destroy Cohort Harras of the 2567th Provisionary Renegade Legion. The plan was only a qualified success, and HarrasĀ“ soldiers took refuge in the ruins of an ancient Naram city under the ice. Relieved of his command by Auxilia commander Rocipian Olioarchus and placed under arrest, Camus used an unguarded moment during the chaotic retreat of the TOG forces to shoot Olioarchus. He appropriated the uniform and dog tags of a penal trooper and took on that veteranĀ“s identity rather than face the shame of a court-martial.
